As a leader in the Wesleyan Church we have responsibilities as a pastor. Some of that responsibility is to the District and General Church.
Every year we are required to fill out the annual Service Reports. [ASR] This is a legal document and is not an option. It does not take that long and is important. I would encourage each pastor/leader to not procrastinate and just get it done.
Another responsibility we have is to attend the District Conference. This comes around once a year and does not require much time. Just one day. We market the day one year in advance so there is plenty of time to have it on the schedule and outside of an emergency or sickness every pastor should be in attendance. The other exceptions are to those who are retired and living in other places or physically cannot. Discipline 3085.3 We are all on the same team and the team is always better when we are together.
As leaders we are entrusted with guiding our teams toward success, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that every individual feels valued and empowered. I want to take a moment to remind you of the vital role teamwork plays in achieving our shared goals and responsibility we carry in cultivating a strong, united team.
True leadership is not about standing above others but standing with them. It is about setting the tone for open communication, mutual respect, and collective problem-solving. When we lead by example – demonstrating accountability, support, and trust – we create an environment where people thrive, contribute meaningfully, and feel inspired to go above and beyond.
Each team member brings unique strengths, perspectives, and talents that, when combined, create something far greater than any one person could achieve alone. It is our duty to ensure that no voice goes unheard, no effort goes unrecognized, and no challenge is faced in isolation.
Let’s continue to encourage collaboration, break down silos, and remind our teams that we are working toward the same vision. When we uplift others, we elevate the entire organization.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to leading with purpose. Let’s keep building together.
